Open Water training is Step 3 of earning your PADI®
Open Water Scuba Diver Certification.
This class is the 3rd step in becoming Open Water Scuba Diver certified. Students will be using scuba equipment, under the guidance of a professional scuba instructor, in an open water environment (The ocean, a lake, or quarry.) After successfully completing Step 3 students will have earned a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certification.
This course includes:
- Custom equipment fitting
- (2x wet) open water training sessions.
- Professional scuba instruction, in an open water environment (ocean, lake, or quarry.)
- Thermal Protection Equipment needed for class
- All Life Support equipment needed for class (Regulator, BCD, Dive Computer, Octopus, Compass, Gauges)

ALL 3-Steps are required to complete an Open Water Scuba Diver certification:

STEP 1: PADI E-Learning- Step 1 must also be completed to earn the PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certification. (Additional fees apply)
- STEP 2: Confined Water (CW) Training - Step 2 must also be completed to earn the PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certification. (Additional fees apply)

ABOUT FULL CERTIFICATION:
- Step 1, 2, & 3 sold separately.
- Step 1 must be completed prior to Step 2.
- Step 1 & Step 2 must be completed prior to Step 3.
- Step 3 can be completed with New England Dive, or elsewhere by way of referral paperwork. (If choosing referral- all scheduling, payments, and instruction is completed by the student at the destination of their choosing)
- Step 1, 2, & 3 must be completed within 1 year from start to finish.
ABOUT SCUBA EQUIPMENT for STEP 2 & 3:
- Included: ALL life support & thermal protection equipment needed for class. Life support gear consists of the primary pieces of equipment needed to scuba dive. (Regulator, BCD, Dive Computer, Octopus, Compass, Gauges)
- Not Included: Personal Gear, or Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Boots, & Mouthpiece kit. Special student discounts apply when purchased at New England Dive.
FREE Custom Personal Gear Fitting: Students enrolled in courses with New England Dive receive special student discounts on personal gear.
- An email invitation is sent at sign up to book your custom fitting (or "Meet & Greet") prior to training. Here, an expert staff member will ensure your personal gear fits you, your diving needs, and your budget perfectly!
Additional Information:
- Prerequisites: Able to swim & tread water; medically fit for diving. Completion of STEP 1: E-Learning and STEP 2: Confined Water (CW) Training.
- Total time commitment: (2x) 4-hour sessions
- Minimum age: 10 years or older
- Availability: Open Water training courses are offered about 1-2 weekends a month May-Oct. (Weather dependent)

- 1-complimentary reschedule for students who provide at least 10 days notice before their scheduled class.
- For reschedule requests made within 10 days of the class start date, a fee of $97 may apply to help cover preparation costs.
